Concept
We imagine the digital interfaces of tomorrow: immersive, interactive experiences that extend beyond the touchscreen and integrate directly into our surroundings. As screens become less physically defined, the interface becomes ubiquitous: it can emerge anywhere, transform spaces and create new ways of interacting with the digital world.
In this project, we aim to create images through a hybrid, interactive process that brings a human being into dialogue with digital technology. We photograph this interaction to produce poetic, surprising and visually compelling images that capture a moment of symbiosis. The concept draws a parallel with the bank’s work, where people work alongside digital technology. The idea behind this project was to explore the interaction between a body in motion and abstract, geometric visuals projected onto a dancer in real time. The aim was to create an image that shifts between abstraction and figuration.
Media design
We used software that allowed us to manipulate a live video feed. The dancer’s movements were captured and used to modulate the projected visuals, allowing the images to pulse, evolve and respond to her gestures. We designed a collection of geometric visuals, then tested different combinations and settings to refine their behaviour in real time. The challenge was to achieve an organic interaction between dance and image, in which the two media influence each other rather than one simply being superimposed on the other. The resulting image conveys a sense of a diffuse presence, like a luminous imprint of the body in motion. Its ghostly quality reinforces the idea of a dance that leaves a visual trace—a graphic memory of the gesture.
We explored emergent phenomena generated by simple algorithmic rules, such as those found in cellular automata. These geometric structures served as a basis for modulating the visual patterns, which we then contrasted with organic elements such as chromatic aberrations, water caustics and glitch effects. Through this approach, we sought to merge calculated order with the entropic character of nature, bringing together the digital and the living.
